What would be the recommended cut off amount of boost for a stock turbo?

Above 22 psi or so the stock turbo becomes very inefficient and may create more boost, but mostly by way of hot air that heat soaks an intercooler much more quickly. If the intercooler is heatsoaked or the air cannot be cooled, it causes pre ignition / detonation once it reaches the engine.

it's not only a matter of safe or not.
the turbo efficiency counts too and whats the point of having too much boost if it's out of the compressor efficiency range ?
i would say 26 psi tapering to 19 psi depending on mods/weather/etc would be a good range for stock turbo on pump.

22psi is where the temperatures between the inlet and outlet starts to diverge by alot more .. meaning its going way beyond the stock turbo efficiency
