The gas would just be pumping between shifts. This would specifically be for rev matching during a shift, and could be an integrated option with the clutch-in map. Check out the video in that thread about synchro-rev-match on the 370z for better reference. I know some people just dump the clutch without rev matching while downshifting, but thats hard on parts (especially with a hardcore clutch) and unsettles the car... but I'm just a for-fun road racer. As far as I know though, most newer automatic systems blip the throttle on downshifts.

I know about the brake booster, I deliver that one pretty frequently to noobs

I think there are a few series where you can't get a license to run doing that. I remember Martin from AMS (he is a pretty lanky fellow) saying he couldn't pick up a license without a proper heel-toe. I think he just headed to the north track at Autobahn for a bit to practice and still got the license that day though.

I never heard that before. All the guys at my local track heal-toe the side to side way. That is how they teach it if you take the courses.

That's not heal-toe, that's toe-toe... haha

I can't imagine having any sort of real control doing it that way, but that's easy for me to say since I do it the traditional heal-toe way.

I do the toe-toe on the street alot... With big feet I have a decent amount of control with a tennis shoe... enough to pop off downshifts at least... but it doesn't work so well with speedcats or adidas sambas on track.

I always wondered where an issue of car and driver got the idea to describe a "heel-toe" as a "toe-toe" with visuals and everything to a reader... but that publication is full of flaws.

I always brake with the ball of my foot. Always. So when I need throttle, a simple roll of my foot and I have throttle. The whole time controlled braking is happening.

I never need to shift my foot around to blip the throttle or let off the brake to move my foot.
