APP/TPS Taper at WOT

It is to be expected that the TPS/APP log will show a taper if the tables(TPS) show that taper with load or vice versa. As we can see in the Ecuflash or Cobb tuning platforms, the Throttle tables all show 100%DC at loads above 120Load(for arguments sake). If this table is working as defined, we should not show a taper of throttle in the upper load/RPM. This assumes we have the ASC fix incorporated in the tune.

Quite a few EVO X owners are running Black(or other larger) turbos, but seeing a taper of boost up top. I have to think this is related to the TPS taper..... as seen in the log below. I am using the EVC log as it is very easy to look at. The brown line shows the taper. I am wondering if anyone else has worked on this.

I will have to do some logging, but the ECU may be doing this if the Boost tables are not tuned closely and you are running an external EBC or possibly a manual. It may also be related to the use of an external boost controller above the 30PSI threshold.

I will be performing a few more tests with far more data that this pic, but I figured we may be able to start a dialog, or there may be a very simple answer already.

Cheers!
John

Can you post a log with the lines defined? I can only assume that brown is TPS.

And for what it's worth, my plate closes all of 1% at red line when compared to what it's at when I first go WOT.

I can get another log. The Brown is TPS and the Pink is RPM. The Pressure is in light blue, and holding 31PSI to 29PSI at near 7100 redline. I will get a better log from Evoscan up and rev it out as well. I just have to finish up in the shop first.

Cheers.

torque/throttle tables.

TPS is actual throttle plate.

APP is requested throttle (your right foot)

If you are WOT, APP will always be max logged and if the ECU is closing the throttle plate for whatever reason, you will see it in the TPS log.

An example:

I agree with you. I am seeing a cut in the TPS as well(as seen in the EVC log..that is not APP)...I will get some data up today, sorry for the delay in this.

This thread was about a TPS control "feature" that was discovered and resolved a while ago. That one turned out to be a 1st-gear-specific table that enforced a percentage limit based on RPM.

Your throttle-back issue impacts 2nd and 3rd too, so it's another mechanism at work.

I'm having a similar issue with my fp red on a mbc as the op. Could this be caused by the stock ecu boost limit tables. Although I'm using an mbc could the ecu be shutting the throttle plate because I'm hitting higher loads than what's on the boost limit tables?

No, the "Boost Limit" table mechanism is a hard cut... like hitting a brick wall. It doesn't gently throttle back TPS.
