Difference between TPS, TPS2 & APP?

Hi, I am currently driving an EDM EVO X with Mode 23 enabled.
I noticed under EvoScan there are 3 similar parameters: TPS, TPS2 and Accel Pedal Posn (APP). In fact, TPS and TPS2 are both requesting the SAME address (238086F1) with different scaling or eval formula.

TPS: x*100/255
TPS2: (x-12.5)*133/255

Can anyone advise what's the difference and which one should I be logging for tuning tables with TPS/Throttle axis? eg, Boost Target Engine Load table.

EDIT: Nevermind... sorry! See next post

TPS is what is being sensed from the pedal, APP is what is being reported to other engine processes (IE the throttle body).

I cannot confirm which sacaling is correct, but I believe in one of the boost control threads tephra stated that the throttle position is actually variable in the boost control tables depending on a few other factors.

APP = Requested throttle, meaning how much your foot is pushing on the pedal or not.

TPS = Actual throttle plate position.

Here is a good visual showing that full APP is being requested and what actual TPS really is:

Thanks for the clarification on the APP parameter. Now I guess I just need confirmation on which eval is the more accurate one, ie TPS or TPS2. Anyone?

TPS is what the ECU uses internally. It's in Degrees, so you will see a max of 90... well more like 87.

TPS2 is normalized to 100%. So the max will be 100%. Some people like to see 100 when they are at full throttle. The ECU guys need to see the 87 number because it is used in other look up tables.

And to be clear (beings you have 2 opposite answers above)

TPS = Throttle Position Sensor
APP = Accelerator Pedal Position

TPS is the Throttle body. APP is from the pedal that you push your foot on. For the most part, you only need to log TPS. Guys only really log the APP when they want to see when the ECU is cutting throttle on them.

Any way to turn off the safety parameters in the 2011 GSR? I am flooring it, but the tps is only allowing around 50% in the low gears. I know I'm posting this everywhere, but I want to get opinions from everyone, as this issue is driving me nuts. I'm tuned btw, but my tuner thinks that it's a safety mode to save the ECU since there's so much extra torque now in the low gears.

Likely it's the 1st gear limiter. This can be removed by your tuner if he has the right definition for your car.

2011 no longer has 1st gear TPS limiter. They now limit torque in first with boost mapping.

I seen that one a recent 2011.

Is there a alternate map to prevent this?

I noticed the car will cut TPS but it will hit boost targets in 1st. It is like a TPS ceiling in 1st and 2nd gear?

Anyway to prevent or get rid of it? That you have found Bryan?

What do you mean by alternative map and prevent what? First gear using less boost? Just match the low gear tables to the high gear tables.

My question with your TPS oddity. Does it do it with the stock ROM?

We still have to fiddle around with the car a bit more I will get more logs if I see it doing it.
