dead thread coming back alive,

how did you sort it out? i just installed cams on the evo and it wont idle at 1000. Cant seem to raise it up at all. No boost leaks at all.

I can drive it around but the minute i stop, it just dies.

I had similar problems - fluctuating idle and dying engine after stopping car.

What helped me was - start the engine, let it idle with no load for about 10 minutes, then switching lights on, A/C on, rear window heater on and let it idle for another 10 minutes.

Seems like ECU had to learn new idle throttle plate position to work. I do this every time after I reflash ECU.

This is hard to believe! sorry!

bumping this up for the second time!

OP, how much vacuum are you running at idle with those cams?

Scroll back to my previous posts, in summary:

Add timing advance in the 500-1500 rpm range 0-60 load areas

Change base target idle values 100-200 higher so that no tables have lower values than desired

Add a few percent to the TPS tables in the idle areas

Make sure your MAF was calibrated properly before the cam install and that STFT and LTFT's aren't indicating your car is out of adjustment range

Make sure you are using proper timing advance tables for the ECU ROM in your car, 2011-2013 timing advance is much higher at idle where as 2008-2010 roms have advance in the 10-12* timing range. if you try and use the 2011+ elevated timing advance in the earlier model roms it will run poorly.

MIVEC tables can be adjusted for less overlap to avoid leaning out at low loads and rpms
