Crappy Idle After Installing Bigger Cams

Hello Guys,

After installing s2 cams on my evox, the idle is very crappy, going from 100 to 600rpm and sometimes stalling.

If I press on the gas pedal so that the rpm is at 800-900, the idle is fine.
The problem is, I can't figure out how to increase the idle from ECUFLASH,
As whatever I do to the tables the idle remains at about 650.

The car is a USDM, initially i had installed a Tephra V1 map, but now I restored the original ROM 52680015 (I thought it was because of T V1 it wasnt increasing the idle), however still the same problem.

Any idea how to increase the idle??

Tks guys really appreciate quick feed back as my car is parked and can't even drive it

Sounds like you forgot to reconnect a vacuum line.... but its also entirely possible that you didn't align the cams properly.

Not sure how much worse these cams typically make idle, but I would probably fix the problem rather than just raising the idle.

If you change all of the idle tables that should take care of raising the target idle for the car, but if it can't make the target right now that is not really your problem. With dual MIVEC the X behaves pretty well with cams at idle.

I raised the rpm to 1000rpm (I think all it needed was driving it for some miles to adapt)...
The new problem i have right now is, between 1500rpm and 3000rpm, during low loads (early spool), the car will go very lean! is that the symptoms of the fuel relay? if so, is it possible that it was only a coincidence that it let go when i installed the cams?

It is entirely possible that it was coincidence... it could also be your new cam profile shifting things around a bit. The relay typically won't affect lower loads because it just increases voltage to the pump to increase pressure... at low load you aren't using enough fuel for it to matter.

I am having the problem as i said between 1500-2500rpm, and between 2.0-7.5psi
I do have fic1100cc's installed, but I tuned for them and previously never had any issues
Only thing that was changed are the cams...

Is it possible that i have to tweak the mivec map in this area?

You will want to start out with all MIVEC removed. Set the whole map to 0 exhaust and 10 intake.

Running very lean could be due to too much overlap.

Yup, thats why my MX-1's used to misfire on my gsr in that same range... too much overlap... Might also want to tweak the map engine load tables in that area to increase the load value by 5 to 15 units progressively.

Yup I started tweaking the mivec in this area and apparently it's due to too much overlap.
It's much better now, only showing some signs in 5th gear, but I'm on the right track to get rid of It.

The S2's are very aggressive, had to raise the idle from 700 to 1000 rpm, and still having some Stalling issues whenever I am stopping on a speed bump.

Starting from zero would be very time consuming for me... what i did is
Decrease the overlap where it's going lean (less exst retard and less int. advance),
And at higher rpm's/loads I increased overlap compared to stock cams (about 3deg more retard on the exst and 3deg more adv. on the intake). Do you think it's the right thing to do?

changing the MIVEC maps doesn't affect MIVEC at idle..

for bigger cams you should run a bit more timing advance...

I see... could be had to give it more time (to adjust throttle)
