tune a must before turbo back 2011?

Just entered the Evo world about a month ago and with the 2011 being a bit different ECU wise ( not sure how ) is it safe to have a turbo-back exhaust before a tune??

thanks,

Im certainly not the expert here, but I would be really surprised if a tune was required. You arent affecting air flow to the engine like if you added an intake or a boost controller.

That being said, I keep hearing there is some HP to be gained with a tune on an 11, even though its not as much as the previous years.

Short-downpipe I would say no, not required, but obviously a good thing to do. With a full o2 elim dp I would say yes, tune required since mine threw my AFR's off by quite a bit (just my personal experience, results will vary).

Remember though, ALWAYS log your car after making changes to your setup. Sometimes certain parts can have random side-effects you weren't expecting and it's better to have the surprise on a laptop/AP screen rather than in a puddle on the side of the road.

Mine seems to run fine without a tune. TBE with test pipe. Ran an O2 spacer for the cel. Car runs rich ofcourse, but that is the way they come. Tune is coming in the near future, from the good folks at CBRD.

i believe you are reffering to spark plug defoulers and yes those do work but i mean your not going to be able to get the full power outta your exhaust without a tune anyways i have full turbo back invidia im waiting to install untell the cobb comes out

The best idea would be to save up and do everything all at once; intake, exhaust, tune.

the 2011 exhaust flows better than the 2008/2010

I would be tempted to just go the tune

What is the difference? Bigger pipes or better bends? TIA

you will still make more power with a 3" TBE, but it wont be as much as before..

just something to think about, your exhaust will flow a lot better with a turbo back. you might see a little higher boost numbers due to not having a cat. this is much more pronounced on other cars like the 3rd gen rx7. you will more than likely be fine but i would get a tune asap

like what they said, you'll be fine. results may vary like what kracka said, so better log just to make sure. it is recommended and ideal to have a tune.

and btw, make sure you align those gaskets for the o2 and dp, before the o2 sensors. having exhaust leaks will make you leaner depending on the size of the exhaust leak.
