gas mileage after tuning

now i have done a search on this but i have not really found an answer to my question. i am new as an evo owner, but have been working for mitsubishi for a while now. i previously owned a 2010 hyundai genesis coupe 2.0T track, which i had tuned to 298 rwhp and 310 rwtq on 93 octane. now before i tuned the car i was averaging about 23 mpg combined city and highway. after it was about 27.6 mpg. i was wondering, to those who have run say, the access port stage 1 if there was a decrease or increase in fuel mileage. i appreciate the feedback

how are you calculating your mpg? if you are using the cluster gauge, and your injector scaling changed, the cluster gauge becomes useless.

have not tuned the car yet, or put anything aftermarket at the moment. how i usually calculate MPG is by trip at the end of the gas tank, the average mpg gauge is not very reliable or accurate wheither it be stock or tuned from my experience. just trying to see if it improves after a tune, or with a aftermarket exhaust or intake on this car like it usually does on my other cars. any input would be greatly appreciated

MPG would improve if you drive exactly the same, but knowing how most people react and drive once tuned, it may go down Boost is addicting!

ok, so it will make a difference, probably 1 or 2 mpg combined like before. that's the answer i was looking for, thank you sir! unfortunately 90% of my driving is mourning rush traffic and then afternoon rush traffic, so until i hit country side its no fun. but the car does seem to need a tune to be a little more responsive, its a bit sluggish on take off compared to my old car, but that may be me getting used to AWD

Before my tune I was averaging 17 city and 22 highway. I get about 18-19 city and upwards of 25 on the highway.

Did you use a canned tune or is this a custom tune with better gas mileage?

I assume if you run a little leaner at cruising you'll get better mileage and still be fine.

You cannot run leaner in closed loop - your fuel trims will adjust and bring you back. If I were a pro-tuner I would not put people in open loop without a specific request and a waiver... the ECU will no longer be adjusting and the end-user will have to monitor things closely to make sure the car is running correctly.

Exactly. I always wonder how guys get better mileage on the highway after a flash. Closed loop is 14.7....

You have to know why. Cruise timing and Mivec can contribute heavily to mileage.
