TPMS can be turned off!!! (thanks Vadimus for help)
BTW I can do ETACS changes for you, it is not worth buying the cable unless you're going to use repeatedly.
Warning, DO NOT USE ON EVO X MR with SST!!!!!
Just in case anyone else almost falls into the same trap I narrowly avoided, see the information in the attached link, basically Diagbox will disconnect communications from ETACS to the TCU which controls the SST mechatronic gear selection and your Evo will be stuck in park until you flash back to the default settings using a different software package.

Vadimus, if you know a way to disable TPMS on the 2012 Evo X MR please PM me. I live in Canada so no legal issue for me to disable this feature.
Regards
Max

Hey Max,
I've got an '09 Ralliart and live in Toronto and was planning to have Vadimus disable my TPMS. According to page 5 of the thread you linked to, Vadimus knows how to flash back to the original state using ETACS_Decoder, or maybe even do the full process using that instead of Diagbox. Either way... I'm much more comfortable having him to do it with all the experience he has, than trying to figure it out from scratch myself. If we can get our schedules to match up so he can do it for me, I'll let you know how it works out!

Hi Strangways
I just used ETACS decoder on a netbook using Win7 and the Lexia 3 Peugot/Citreon interface connection unit to disable my TPMS, really easy once I got the Actia USB driver manually installed.
Link to the Lexia3 unit I bought on eBay.

Here's a link to the ETACS decoder forum, a great place to learn all about this handy utility software.

Specific pages to look at, this one has the download link to the ETAC decoder software, current released version at time of posting is 3.2.0.6

There are lots of other threads in the FAQ page, but to disable TPMS once you have the ED software up and running and connected to the Lexia3 interface and ODBII connector on your Evo.
Select decode, you should have two green lights on at the bottom of the ED page.
Select "TPMS" option which will be set to "present"
Change to "not present"
Encode
Write to ETACS (you will see the third green light flicker as the write to ETACS function is processed).
Save modified configuration.
Follow instructions on screen i.e. turn off ignition, wait 2 seconds, turn ignition on. Start car and no more TPMS light present.
I would like to thank Vadimus and the ETACS decoder forum for finally providing a solution to the annoying TPMS light on our Evo MR and other supported ETACS vehicles.

I visited Vadimus a few days ago, and this gentleman has got it all figured out. He sat in my car with a Windows tablet and a Tactrix cable, and in under 15 minutes he did the following:
1) The TPMS sensors are long gone from my car, and now the warning messages on the display, and the dedicated warning light, are gone.
2) I can close my sunroof from the FAST key remote by double-pressing and holding the lock button. I've already used this while sitting at the patio of a cafe when it started to rain, and my car was parked close enough for the remote to work.
3) My fog lights will turn on when the parking lights are on, it no longer requires the headlights to be on. Finally, my fog lights are actually useful! On my old car, there were times I popped the hood and unplugged the headlights so I would be able to have just the fog lights on in really foggy weather, and therefore be able to actually see ahead of me!
4) I can select from the touchscreen (I have a nav unit) whether or not I want the doors to lock automatically as the car reaches a certain speed (5 km/h? I'm not sure) and whether or not they unlock when I put the transmission in park. These two functions can be switched on or off independently of each other.
This has definitely been one of the fastest and most immediately fun mods I've ever done to the car. Thanks, Vadimus! Anyone who lives in the GTA, or passes through it, should pay him a visit.
