Tuner needed possible recommendation on EMS

A good buddy of mine just bought a new 2011 Evo X MR and he just purchased the following parts from ETS:
ETS Intake
ETS 3.5 FMIC
ETS recirculated down-pipe-catless
ETS resonated test-pipe-catless
ETS V2 Quiet exhaust system
ETS UICP and LICP
Grimspeed 3-Port
Cobb AP
The dilema that he is in is that he lives here in southern Ohio and there are very few tuners near where he lives. Did he make the right choice in chosing a Cobb AP as the tunning solution? Or would it be best he just get a flash tune from someone near? If he does use the Cobb Ap who is going to be the very best at Pro-Tunning the car. Advice and guidence on where to go would be greatly appreciated.

it depends on the reason for him buying the cobb AP.. it has its benefits, but if you're just trying to get a one time flash custom tune deal out of the car then open source is the best route granted he has a tactrix programmer cable and a loggable with evoscan or equiv logging software.

you are locked in cobbs world with the AP.. you must tune within their application which is fine, but i prefer open source. access tuner race pretty much gives you a very similar interface as ecuflash (open source software) gives.

there are premade base maps cobb includes with the AP that he can flash onto the car. they wont extract full power out of the car, but they will get it semi close.

basically with his mods, you would raise boost alittle bit, maybe give it more or less timing, and then adjust the afr so its within safe limits .. around 11.0-11.5 etc.

his mods are a pretty simple tune.. if the cars stock it will be big gains though over the stock tune. the Cobb AP is fine to continue using though.
