Oxygen Sensor - Intermittent Check Engine

Hey all,

So here is my issue, I bought a second hand 2008 GSR and the previous owner did some modifications. One of the mods is 3" exhaust with no cat. I was obviously getting the check engine light because of the O2 sensor.

I then went to get a spacer installed and it seems to be working... except when it's humid outside or if I gun it. The light then comes on and ramdomly goes away within the next few days depending on weather and/or driving.

Now I'm just annoyed and I'm wondering how to solve this issue so I need suggestions. I was debaiting getting a different spacer installed to see if that would do the trick but I am open to any and all better suggestions.

Thanks!

Are you tuned by Cobb or Ecuflash?
If it is the rear sensor it can disabled either permanently or just to test it. (Rear o2 is just for emissions) Find an experienced tuner to take a look.
Also you should have a code if you keep getting a light. Get a code reader and fon the code. I believe. It's either a p0038, p0037 code for the rear o2 or if you have an exhaust leak. Have you checked for leaks?

Do you know the tuning history on the car? Does it have tephra mods as part of the rom?

What spacer did you get? Did you get a purpose made o2 sensor spacer or did you do the old spark plug defouler trick?

Unfortunately I do not know the tuning history, I went to a tuner that specialyses in Mitsubishi cars, the owner even has his own moded 2009 MR I told him the problem he installed the spacer. As for the ECU it's factory flashed.

Unfortunately I do not know brand but it was made for O2 and my check engine light disapeared 4 days ago hasn't popped back up but it seems to do that every once in a while show up and disapear randomly ever since the spacer was installed.

I was considering purchasing Vibrant Performance O2 Spacer and installing that.

As for the code, I went to the dealership its the rear sensor for emissions (dealer was aware of this he's the one that paid for spacer install).

Best bet is probably to wait for a dry summer day and gun it on the highway to see if it will pop back up and then head to a tuner shop.

Well besides getting it tuned properly which would be a good plan with a test pipe/straight pipe on the stock map. You could pull the extension out again. And stuff a little steelwool in there. The purpose of the extension is to fool the ecu into thinking that the air/fuel mixture has burnt off after going through the cat. This is why the code keeps popping up.
