The benefits to E85 are great, I mean whats wrong with more power and torque. But the disadvantages are not to be ignored. In addition to what momostallion said are you're gonna have to upgrade your injectors no matter what. For starters you're gonna need a 255lph fuel pump. Depending on your power levels you might even need a fuel pump bigger than that or a double pumper.

All in all E85 is awesome and really transforms the car into something else. But it does have some disadvantages to it. Best of luck to you man
Everything he said is right on except E85 building up over time. E85 is a natural cleaner type fuel so all the build up is from gasoline that is in the tank, in the lines, in the fuel rail, well it all has to come out some where so it tends clog the fuel filter and gum up the injectors. what you have to do is put a new fuel filter on more frequently until it has cleaned everything out and your good. Now I switch back and forth for the winter a lot because of the winter hard starts. I didn't get the cold start tables corrected last time I had it tuned. E85 has more great benefits than its cons, but like the other guys say as long as you know your good.

Hey I'm here with you in Afghanistan. See you around!!!

Godspeed

I just got off the phone w/ my tuner. I inquired about running e85 and he told me about this mod that switches maps that he runs on his evo IX. I was like hellz yea I was just told about that on the evom forum

So he told me that dyno tuning w/ charts for both maps over stock + the button mod for swapping maps would run me 500 bucks so needless to say i'm going to be runnin 85 in 2 weeks!!! I cant wait to get home.

Also I was talking car with a buddy of mine he said that e85 eats oem seals?? Anyone heard of that through this entire thread not one person mentioned it, neither did it say anything about that on the other ones I read into....?

Yeah it will, it'll eat up rubber seals and o-rings. But honestly any high horseower car will go through seals and o-rings quicker no matter what fuel you run it on cause the motor is under that much more stress. IMO E85 is worth it

I wasn't saying that E85 itself builds up, but that running E85 after gasoline will cause build-up. I should've been more clear

I get about 160-180 miles on a tank of E85. The only con for me is the small gas tank on the Evos.

seals

I ran e85 for a year and not a single problem. There is a guy that showed a bunch detailed pics of all his injector seals, fuel lines, pump seal, and other stuff that all look like they were brand new. I just read it the other day. People say that, but there are a lot of factors to consider. When you changed to E85, how many miles were on it when you switched over. Just my 2 cents
