False.

I recently had my injectors set out to be flowed and cleaned. They have been in the car since 2007. They have had E85 running through them since 2008, so 5+ years of E85 usage. They also sat in the car for over a year, with the car NEVER BEING RUN that whole time. So sitting there with E85 in them, again NEVER starting the car for over a year. They checked out with flying colors, after seeing the report, I really didn't even have to get them cleaned. They where fine.

You can see the details here (and other E85 myth busters): https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/10784645-post67.html

I've read on another Evo forum about how E85 has the potential to ruin the delicate internals of some injectors due to its hygroscopic nature. While I'm sure its a rare occurrence, its certainly possible.

You are definitely in the minority. I've had E85 sit for just a month and throw my whole system off. Had to run gas for a week to fix that mess. All in all, I think E85 is worth the hassle if you have it in close enough proximity to where gassing up isn't a huge pain in the ****. Sounds like OP lives in E85 paradise.

super killer write-up man thanks a ton! Also good to see all the other people who's been running 85 for a long time w/ no issues like you too.

This was Razorlab's quote above. Not taking credit for any of his work. Thats a very well written thread.

Not trying to start a pissing match but we are in different parts of the country so there are a few variables. You're in California. First of all its the coast with the most and I'm jealous. Secondly, maybe the blend is different then over here in Fl. Lastly, we have higher humidity then you and that coincides with the rusted injectors that we've dealt with.

We've had trouble with one of the best injectors out there after sitting. This is on 3 different cars with one of them with a brand new fuel system. That guy's theory was that by going with a new system it would eliminate the possibility of old fuel/buildup clogging the system. We have also checked our fuel tanks and found milky colored debris in them after sitting for 3-4 weeks.
Also, all ethanol based fuels in the marine application have big issues here. So much that distributors are not selling it at most marinas.

you need to have a protune on a cobb , so if your interested in doing E-85 find a protunner that has done a E-85 map and settings before.

If you were using a tactrix and open ecu it would be a tad easier, but I got a feeling your new to this game , so I highly suggest you seak out a shop or a tunner that has done this before.

So how long is E85 good for? The E-85 gas station is not super close to my house so I was gonna buy a bunch of fuel containers and fill them up and use them as I need.

I may have missed someone posting this is the thread but just incase no one mentioned it, there has been a proven decrease in spark plug life after switching to E85. Be careful, make sure you stay on top of changing your plugs.

That is wicked overkill. Annually should be fine as long as you avoid bouncing off the rev-limiter on a regular basis.

My friends having problems with e85 on his evo 8 MR. He goes through spark plugs every 4000 miles and then i searched e85 spark plug choice on here and i found a thread that several people confirmed they have to change spark plugs every oil change or ever other oil change.

I have been using e85 for 4 years.... I tried to change plugs every other oil change, every 3-5k miles but everytime i pulled out the plugs they were fine!!!... So i agree annually unless you go to the track every weekend or race every stoplight! Lmao
