Is a cobb ots map right for me?

I just purchased a 2010 evo SE and after 2 weeks of daily driving, the exhaust & rear diffuser is black with soot. The car came with mods and as i understand the dealership made all recall repairs (fuel pump relay i'm assuming) which is making the car run rich. I need a tune.

Herein lies the problem. I have no idea what the guy before me did to the car. It might already have a tune. The tune could have been on a fuel pump relay that was 50% dead, which may explain why i'm running so rich. Other than this hypothesis, there is no evidence there has been a tune on the car that i can identify. In addition, the dealership cut up a beautiful exhaust system to add a catalytic converter & a resonator, meaning a Cobb OTS map may not be a proper fit for my setup anymore.

Mods on the car i can identify:

Injen intake & UICP
ETS Extreme cat back (with cat & resonator hacked in)
Aftermarket Downpipe (brand uknown)

A mod i wanted before i tune was a 3 port, which further complicates my options on an OTS map.

In your opinion, fellow evo owners, which option should i choose??

1) Get 3 port, buy access port, pray my ECU isn't married, use the Cobb stage 2 OTS map made for a 3 port (this map is currently in beta stage) - ~$600 If i buy a AP new

2) Get 3 port, Buy access port, pray my ECU isn't married, Drop off at JMS Racing (here in San Antonio) or drive to Plano to get Cobb to tune it in person. ~1000 w/ JMS tune, ~$1200 for a cobb tune (includes gas to drive to Dallas)

What do you reccomend??

I would get the AP...... and they are 450 new by the way. I just bought mine for 450 all the maps are still in beta but that dosent mean you cant use them, I would highly suggest getting a pro tune anyway.

I think you're right. an extra 450 for a tune is cheap if it guarantees i won't blow up an engine with an ots map... even if it will only net me an extra 5 hp.

Is your car still under warrante? And I wouldn't recommend an OFS map for a 3-Port. If anything have Cobb tune the car for your exact specific mods and gas/elevation. That would be your best bet and if your are still under warrante... I would 100 percent recommend the AP because when you remove it from your vehicle you are still covered.

Don't think i am. I bought the car from a dealer and it came with an aftermarket downpipe. As i understand it, that means no warranty. Though i only have 20k miles on my 2010.

That's terrible looking. Should have had them do something about that before you bought it.
