AMS STX300 Tune Review

I recently got the Cobb Stage 1 power package (Cobb AP V3 and Cobb High Flow Filter) but kept on getting knock up top. I think the gas quality had a small role but even after filling up with Shell V power 93 octane it would still have at times 3-4 counts of knock steady up top.

I plan on getting a tune from Golden (great guy) in the future but being very short on free time due to work and needing a stable tune for my DD ASAP, I started researching the STX300 tune offered by AMS. While there isn't a ton of feedback online, the reviews I did find were very positive so I decided to take the plunge.

AMS has been great and revised my tune three times and this last map seems to be perfect. Three back to back pulls tonight and zero knock to be found The car is a great deal faster from stock and just as important, the tune is very stable. Cobb's latest map just isn't near as smooth and out of three runs I would almost be guaranteed to see knock up top.

For those looking for a stable yet strong stage 1 tune, the STX300 map is fantastic. I had very low knock at first and was under boosting a tad which was all corrected by the third map revision. A big thanks to Andrew, Larry and Chris at AMS for working with me on the map and getting it just right

Loving the new tune Andrew! Really appreciate the extra adjustments that Chris was able to make to it. The the boost comes on fast yet smoothly and continues to hold all the way to redline. This should be the first mod for any stock Evo =)

For guys with the SST tranny, would this affect shift points as well? I'm starting to plan out my first few mods and definitely considering this, LICP or TBE for starters...

The STX300 flash is designed for a vehicle that is completely stock with no modifications done to it. This map does not affect the shift points at all for the SST transmission.

If you are looking for a flash to work with a full exhaust, FMIC, UICP, LICP, and intake, then the STX400 flash will be what you need. Please keep in mind that the STX400 flash will only work if the car has an AMS intake on it.

The STX400 flash is a base map designed here only to work the the AMS intake and stock boost control solenoid. A different intake and a 3-port would require a custom flash on the dyno. We do not offer E-tuning with the Evo X platform unfortunately.
