Ways to lock Evo X ECU/ROM - DTC C01A0
On page 12 in Merlins Tuning Guide we read:
"One thing you wont need is an un-locker program, EVOX and RALLIART ECUs that
have been flashed with EcuTek can be read and flashed directly with EcuFLASH."
Now we had two friends with whom we wanted to remap the tunes of their Evo X which are tuned by the same local tuner.
Everytime we try to read from the ECU we get a message like "an error occured, see the log"
log shows:
no key(s) worked - perhaps this ECU has been intentionally locked?
interface close
interface close
The very interesting thing is, that after trying to read insuccessfully, both cars get a DTC error with the code: C01A0
Google doesn't find anything for this code, but in Merlin's Guide we saw that C#### is for Chassis problems.
So now, could it be that bold ECU's/ROM's are somehow locked?
As C is standing for Chassis, could it be that the tuner has removed or moved a PIN to the Chassis to block other guys from reading his ROMs?
Myth: We are asking, because we heard that this tuner found a way to "protect" his ROMs from curious eyes... actually after a setup change of our friend he wants it remapped by us.
Any one any ideas? Myth busting :-) ???
