Used Evo X - Does it have a tune? 8K RPM rev limit :/

I recently bought an 08 Evo X GSR from a dealership...it is a one owner car with the only visible mods being an Injen hardpipe kit with Injen short ram intake, Eibach springs, and Gram Light wheels. 64k miles.

I am wondering if the car is tuned at all. Being the only Evo X I have driven, I do not know what to compare it to, but it does pull very strong.
The other day at AutoX I accidently hit the rev limiter crossing the finish...looked down and noticed the rev limiter was at 8K, which I do not like. Highest I've been revving it has been around 6500-7k on the street...but I don't like being able to hit 8k by accident...the 7500 stock rev limit would even scare me a bit. If anything I'd like to drop it down to 7k since there is no need to rev that high anyway, and I'm not drag racing it.

So I'm assuming it would have to have been tuned with something? Any idea on how to tell? Or even tell which tune it may be? Or even just turn the limit down? I keep reading about ECUflash...

I wish these cars came stock with boost gauges so I could at least get an idea if the boost level was stock or not.

Any incite would be great. Thanks!

If you know anyone that has a Tactrix Openport 2.0 (1.3 won't work for the Evo X) you can borrow, you can do a read and send the ROM image to us an attachment to support at tactrix dot com. We can figure out the ROM revision and email you back the stock ROM. Once you have the stock ROM you can go in to EcuFlash, open both ROMs, and then select 'Compare ROMs' from the 'File' menu which will give you a listing of all tables that are different between the two.

yes it has a tune on it stock is 7500 changing rev limiter to 8k is fine wont hurt anything revving it to 8k at all.
I bought mine new and 3 months after i bought it rev limiter got changed to 8k never had a problem with it. This included beating the living hell out of it at 500hp and power shifting the hell out of it never had a problem. rev that ***** out it will be fine !!!!!!!!

I was reading about the Tactrix and all, that's a very cool software. I didn't realize how easy it was to access the ECU in these cars. But maybe someone locally has it...if not, it seems it would a good investment.

And theblackbeast11...I believe you but I don't want to try it...lol

it's the best investment next to the car itself.
