How to prepare for dyno tune? TephraXMod w/o Tactrix?
Sorry for the noob question, but I'm planning on getting my '15 MR tuned in a few weeks and I'm wondering what perf shops typically expect you to have when you show up (other than a functionally sound car). I'm sure the very question in itself has made this obvious, but this will be my first time having a car tuned.
I know the answer to this will likely be "ask your tuner", but I'm not 100% sure where I'm going yet. Since I'm located in MN I'm planning on either going to Ron at RS Motors (if they ever get back to me) or Shane at DB Performance.
Most importantly, I want to run TephraXMod v3 on my X, but I don't have a Tactrix cable. Is there any way to tell which ROM ID I have without pulling it off the ECU? I know I could just buy the cable since it's not a bad idea to have regardless, but since I just dropped over $2000 on maintenance and parts I'd rather not spend another couple hundred bucks right now if I don't have to, especially since that would easily put me on the wrong side of $500 for just a tune. Ideally I'd like to just bring my Tephra base ROM in on a flash drive and just hand it to the tuner before he starts going to town.
Thanks in advance!

You're going to need to pick up a Tactrix cable at some point anyway so that you can data log your car (very important on a tuned car) The cables are pretty cheap (Got mine for $120 on eBay)
In terms of being prepared, the only thing you should need is to provide the VIN to Tephra since they're VIN protected. The tuner should be able to deal with the ROM ID. Also, are you planning on running Flex Fuel, or are you just getting V3 for the hell of it? Because some tuners may not know how to use the Flex Fuel setup yet.

Just show up and say you want an open source tune.
With an appointment of course. It's literally that easy.
No need for a Tactrix cable yet unless you want to do logging right away.
Not really sure why you want the Tephra mod unless you are running flex fuel or need more than one map tuned.

If you're doing a dual map tune for E85 and 93/91 then you might have to bring your own jugs of E85. Other than that just bring them something that is self contained ( Doesn't leak fluids like crazy) and structurally sound.

The rest of it I have scheduled for the various upcoming weekends, with the TBE being last. After that I just plan on taking it easy on the boost (as in almost avoiding it completely) until after I get my custom tune.
I was under the presumption that the KnockCEL and couple other safety features were exclusive to TephraXMod. I wouldn't be surprised if I'm wrong about this lol. I also want to be prepared for flex fuel next spring.
