The sst gearing is short but evenly spaced out through the 6 gears for the most part. The 5 speed that I have seen in mags has the gearing similar to stis without the 6th gear.

My new X feels lower as the data above indicates. Thespacing seems similar but the final drive really makes the gearing feel too short for daily driving. It will be interesting to see what it feels like on the track (road course).

Crazy. Look like people will have problems on the drag strip when trapping higher then 110. Either you'll have to bounce off the rev limiter or shift.

Does anyone know what RPM the rev limiter actually kicks in? Is it really 7000rpm, or something somewhat higher like 7200 or 7500? I'm comparing all of the cars for a Solo2 (autocross) car. Trying to figure out top speeds in each gear.

Thanks

Really on my evo 9 that I had my fuel cut came up at 7800 straight. And sometimes it would fuel cut at 8000 rpms.

The 8 gear box would be the best for 1/4 mile and street racing.

With the shorter gearing (as well as the smaller turbo), that would explain the low end torque on the car. 5th gear is crude on the VIII/IX.

Revlimit is 7606 for the 8s and 9s- it might even be off at tad when revving towards 8000rpms anyway. The x's performance numbers were achieved by shifting at 7500rpms also..

Has anyone here taken their X to the track to see if they have to shift to 5th?
