Problem
Problem
I have a 2005 Lancer Evo 8. It was 40 degrees or so outside this morning and I went to start my car. It turns over a few times then a grinding sound happened. I had my brother try to start the car while I look under the hood and I see that the smaller thinner serpentine belt is turning and the belt thats going to my cam gears isn't moving. (sorry about the ignorant use of words) It kind of ticks back and fourth. I stopped him right away. What could it be?
Sorry wrong forum, should have been in evo 1-9. Reposted it there.

You've lost your timing belt. DO NOT TRY TO START IT AGAIN. You are just destroying internal metal parts.
Im sorry, but you need to do a timing belt, and if you were lucky- (I havent personally seen it,but Ive heard of it happening) you didnt hit the valves with the pistons.
Best of luck, but you need at least to change the belt, and most likely you need head work and clean up the valve hits on the pistons. Sorry.
