They are getting a batch in today, and they are shipping out this afternoon!!!

I ordered my 1-pc matte black. Get your hands on yours before they sell out again.

I love the look of the 1-piece but have a concern (which may be unfounded) that it won't flex as well as a multi-piece unit, making it prone to wiggling loose.

Antics would be the man to ask check it out:

Nisei Engineering SINGLE-PIECE 1018 PROTOTYPE Upper Intercooler Pipe.

I love the fact that its one smooth mandrel-bent pipe stretching all the way from the turbo outlet all the way to the front mount. I track-tested this pipe at Streets of Willow this past Friday and it withstood the entire RPM range all day without any flex issues. Theres going to be ongoing testing before the final production piece but so far, its held up extremely well...

I dont have exact details as far as how much Nisei Engineering will be selling these for, but I do know that they will be coming out with these very soon in a variety of finishes along with some other major goodies along the way. For those of you who have had Nisei stuff in the past for your 8's and 9's, you know the high level of detail and quality that goes into their products... I know I loved all my Nisei pipes on my 9, and now on my X!!!

PERSONAL REVIEW OF THE PIPE:

I personally decided to go with the Gloss black on my X.

I really liked the Matte black for the stealthy look, but noticed that its harder to keep clean due to the matte finish... my fingerprints would show on the pipe, etc... With the gloss, it was easier to wipe off the surface...

I also liked the idea of the red at first, but got mixed feelings once I saw it on my car... It almost stood out TOO much... maybe good for show, but not for me... not now at least (maybe ill change my mind down the road.. who knows )

Got a chance to play with the 2-piece ones and I think Nisei wanted me to play with them on purpose so I could see why the 1-piece would be advantageous over the 2 pieces... They provided me with the Type-A and the Type-B.

I have to say that the 2-piece ones were harder to line up correctly and install due to the different pivoting, clamping spots, etc... whereas the single piece ones basically went in one way and one way only. I personally prefer the single-piece look in seeing them in person, but again, thats just MY PERSONAL opinion...

Finish on the pipes are immaculate. The welds are extremely clean and the bracket lines up PERFECTLY to the radiator support core frame (across the front of the car). They mount re-using the existing mounting bushings from your original pipe.

The pipes are beaded at the ends to prevent them from slipping and I dont think anybody will EVER have a problem with them popping off (unlike the 9's and 8's)

Engine flex again is NOT AN issue. In fact, Im taking this pipe out again to Streets of Willow for a full day of tracking this upcoming Saturday... (this is my third time tracking on the nisei pipe. Twice on the prototype, and once on the finished product)....

PS: The front shroud fits back on without any fitment issues... I had it off in the pics because of the different pipes i was putting on and off...

Here are the pics I took, which I think Nisei will end up using on their site down the road:

Thanks, EVOSlayer! That answered my concerns.

When I had my 8, I had the problem with my stock upper pipe popping off a few times and nothing is more irritating than standing on the side of the Interstate trying to slide a pipe back in and tighten it down with a phillips head and a flashlight.

Ordering now.

When Nisei mentioned that they had some 2 pc ones made, I asked why? and frankly the answer I got was pretty straight-forward.

In short, the simple answer was:

Because there's always people on the internet who are going to question the 1-pc design so in order to appease the entire market, well continue making the 1 pc which will be our primary product line. For the nay-sayers and the people who are SUPER concerned with flex, we'll have the two piece just to make them happy and to put them at ease. In fact, we'll even make the 2 pc in limited runs cut in two completely different positions similar to the popular configurations you see out there, so they will not be able to have any reason not to buy the Nisei pipe whether its 1pc or 2pc...

I then figured it out... Type - "A" and Type "B"... get it? get it? think "A"ms and "B"uschur... (At least thats my guess )

I still prefer the 1 pc. On my IX, my biggest pet peeve was all the friggin elbows, and couplings, and t-clamps, etc.... My first goal was to get a solid pipe... Same with my X... I hated the BIG A** rubber elbow and two piece seemed logical, but after running the 1pc, I wouldn't go any other way...

I've had this pipe installed and haven't had any issues of it popping off due to flexing of the engine. Just make sure you install it properly and tighten the clamps right and you should be good to go.

I don't think they do. The ones they sent to me to shoot are the ones they have I think.

So, Hose Techniques is not like china hoses.

I got this off of Hose Techniques site:

I'm sure you can get more hose info at www.HoseTechniques.com
HT also has a lifetime warantee on their hoses i believe

Definitely wait for the 1 piece...less spots to interrupt airflow and less points for the pipe to pop off under high boost.

I just bought the last matte black 1 piece on Thursday .

Just recieved mine today, good piece

But I have a question, just installed it and test run the car, when I accelerate my turbo does a small screaming diffrent from before when I put my intake ...

Is it because my coupling aren't tight enough ?

The UICP could possibly add more noise to your intake system, but be sure to get the clamps nice and tight.
