Help Intake hose....?
Help Intake hose....?
Quick question..
Ive installed the Turbotrix upper and lower IC pipe, and the intake with Forge BOV, now Iam stuck with this little hose that was attached to the OEM intake. pics below..
Do I just keep this loose? or cover it? I can find anything to connect it to..
I dont have MBC.

THanks

That hose runs from the boost control solenoid and is simply a vent hose for the solenoid. The way that it works is that to maintain a certain level of boost the ecu tells the solenoid vent port to open up and vent off excess boost pressure so that it is not all sent to the wastegate. This helps keep the wastegate closed and prevents premature boost loss. The only reason that there is a line connecting this port to the intake from the factory is for emissions purposes, not performance or operational stability purposes.
Since technically the gases vented out contain blow by vapors they do not want to vent these to atmosphere. There does not have to be any vacuum applied to the solenoid vent hose for it work, which is why many of the tuning companies don't have a nipple on the pipe for it. Plus, a lot of guys run MBCs and wouldn't use the stock solenoids or lines connected to them, so they wouldn't want to have a useless nipple on their intake pipe that they would have to cap. Just disconnect the line from the twin solenoids rather than leaving it hanging and you'll be all set.

I am going to build a shield like one gentalman said. It will more than likely end up loking something like the Agency Power one seen here.

I had an idea for what to do with mine tonight.
Take a small piece of cloth (I used like a 2" x 2" piece) and wrap it around the hard plastic fitting. Then wrap a zip tie around the fitting and clamp down on the cloth so the cloth doesn't blow off. This will keep junk out of the end of the tube, but still let the boost solenoid bleed off air. I then zip tied the hose to one of the brackets on the strut tower, just so it wouldn't flop around.
Seems to work fine so far.
