i dont think its a major issue with the AC. my fan actually came out today, freakin hot *** hell! anways it stayed on for about 2 minutes after the car was off and i was able to see whats going on. the driver side fan blows strong air straight on the filter. if you have an air filter with a reverse cone type at the top i can see where this can be a problem. so good idea on the shield there

I don't know if it will work with an Autozone filter, to be honest. Why buy a Autozone filter for a $35,000 car? That's a better question.

When I went to Mitsu New Modle Training for the X they mentioned that they where having problems with after market filter oil getting on the MAF. Personally I will be using an AEM Dryflow filter. Props to Buschur for having a filterless option.

K&N has done extensive testing on this, and it is unfounded. Oil from filter does not coat the MAF, go to K&N's site, they have some info posted about it.

Any vendor on this site mentioned it has to do with the extreme sensitivity of the MAF's that is creating the problems. Hence this shield that Buschur has designed to keep the air from the fans off of the intake.

I don't see this piece being made for the EVO 8-9 as it hasn't been an issue like it is on the EVOX.
A'pexi power intake has it.

it is an old trick to prevent idle issues or miss reading the airflow on open element filter,if the engine sensitive for it.

We using it on the Gyroplane with the EJ22 engine./Subaru /

I'm glad the one we are making is as ugly as that one. I have never seen one of those used on any EVO8-9, didn't even know there was something of the sort made. Why it is positioned where it is, is beyond me. It's on the top of the filter and the air coming from the fan in in the front. I believe that piece may be more for JDM Bling.

The finished piece as of now will be a black painted fiberglass molded piece.

Here is the prototype aluminum piece.

I will have an installed pic tomorrow once it stops raining.
