Hey SiC, I know this is a little off topic but being the only guy with a japan spec evo X I gotta ask you if you have the same notchy tranny/rough shifting issue that the rest of us seem to have. Granted that many of us have learned to shift in a manner that prevents it, but I am curious if it's an issue that just the US spec X's have or if it's global. Thanks.

Sorry for the off topic reply, but yeah, it's a global issue. Many people talk about it here too and the rear bumper paint that starts to peel near the wheel well. I'll be going to the dealer soon for my second rear bumper replacement.

I went ahead and put some DEI Cooltape on my Turbo Compressor Housing to see if it may help reflect some of that radiant heat away from the turbo. I would still like to see a better heat shield for the manifold though! Any updates or test numbers?

We are still working on the heatshield, it may be a month or two before it's ready for production, sorry for the delay!

So just out of curiosity did you guys give up on the heat shield idea? If so why, your data seemed to suggest that it could really help.

Perhaps a short term solution to this could be just wrapping the manifold, turbo and downpipe with heatwrap? Anyone try this?

Well, the turbo is probably the biggest heat creator under the hood. Putting that shield around it will probably make it hotter because you're condensing all of its heat to itself, essentially not letting it breath. However!, keeping underhood temps down is great. Your UICP will stay cooler as well as your intake and possibly coolant temps in extreme conditions. I hope perrin starts to sell this as I'd gladly pick one up.
