I only have had the problem when the tranny was cold. ^ It would have to use a second gear to get reverse because you need an extra gear to get the output shaft to spin the opposite way to get reverse... say you have 2 gears to spin the output shaft to the right 3 gears would spin it to the left and so on for every even gear afterwords and every odd gear afterwards.. so if you had 15 gears lined up the last one would spin to the left and if you had 16 it would be to the right... Just a little basic gear theory!! lmao.... my .02
And it is definetly the GSR and not the tc-sst that uses this technique to engage reverse.
