My car is at the dealer for the third time trying to fix this stupid leak. I wish mitsu would come out with a better solution other than slapping gooo on the outside of the timing chain cover!!!!

I'm starting to lose hope with how mitsu handle their vehicle problems.

ok..sorry to bring this thread back from the dead. i recently did my oil change on my car..noticed the oil leak was back...i can take it back to the dealer for the warranty claim, only thing now is i have a full tbe on so i'm sure that'll be a problem...so i'm going to attempt and fix this myself.

so i guess i wanted to confirm...this is the timing chain cover leaking? what would i need to fix it? are there more than one part if have to replace or fix? any solid info would hellp...i'm trying to avoid swapping back to stock coz that's too much work so i'm going to resolve this myself first.

^^ I just got back from the dealership today with an oil change, and I told them about my car leaking oil. The techs at my dealer said my cause was a pinched O ring on the fuel return line on the turbo. Not too sure if's the same problem you are having.

This is getting bad now, I have the same leak and yes it is going back for the 3rd time. Starting to get really annoyed. If it keeps happening than I might have to go lemon law.

I am the OP, I have 35k on my motor and my leak is back as well. I am conviced it is a design issue, so the dealers will NOT be able to fix it.

The leak is so small for me (5-6 drops over 5000 miles) that I don't care anymore. I refuse to allow the dealers to touch my car any further.

My question for AMS or any "builder" is have they seen this issue and found a possible resolution?

I am wondering if the 2010 models have this same leak, if not, what's different? Maybe the timing chain cover? If so, can a 2010 timing chain cover fit a 2008 block?

Serious, can anyone get any of the "builders" in here that can report their experience with us?

This weekend i changed my transmission fluid and i found that I had a oil leak too. I also found a loose bolt and I have no idea where it came from.

Any suggestions?

Driver side turbo bracket that bolts into the turbo itself.

My was made in April, hope the issue was resolved. No leaks when I changed my oil at 600 miles. We will see at 5000 miles.
I believe mine is a June 2008 build and so far no leaks.

I had my timing chain cover leaking behind the water pump. They fixed it under warranty with all my mods on

There was a TSB about it so they fixed it. Not sure if that is the leak you guys are seeing or not.

That's the one. They fixed mine on 3 occasions and now the leak is back. I believe it to be in engineering effect.

The TSB basically was clean the surface, i think maybe replace the pump and pretty much use mitsu sealant on it. My buddy has an SR20 and he said he always has this problem when he pulls his motor apart, he has to reseal a few times. I don't think mine was leaking though after they fixed it. (SR20 is a very very similar engine design to the 4b11 which is why i referenced it).

I'm going for a third time for this same problem. The first fix lasted less than 3 months, the next time the fix lasted for about 8 months.

For the second fix they had it for a day, re-applied some sealant.

I bet the fix will be the exact same as before. Sorry to say but I'm going to have to lemon law this thing if it leaks one more time.

So the evo X I just bought looks like it's having this issue after all... ugh. Looks like I'll be messing with this in a couple of weeks when I have the time. The instructions for that TSB is crazy... the quick and dirty way.
