Well, mine is "fixed" if that is the correct word - seeing they just put a lot of goo around the source of the leak (timing-chain cover). I spent a lot of time under the car last weekend while putting on the AMS downpipe and it seems dry.

Did my oil change yesterday. Guess what? It's leaking again. I would check the area around 2000-2500 miles. I cleaned up what I can around the suspect area. I'm going to take it in when my next oil change is due. It's not a significant amount of oil that's being lost so I'm not too worried. However, i'm peeved that a car under 20k miles would leak like a 80's off the showroom floor american car.

Keep an eye out on the leak. I'm fed up with Don Herring Plano...apparently they have no clue on remedying this problem. I'll take it over to Don Herring in Irving next time around.

I would just re-seal it yourself. Its not hard to remove the t-cover and all you would need is new sealer and a valve cover gasket. The dealer SHOULD be doing this but apparently are looking for the easy quick fix.

It seems this affects vehicles made before APRIL 8th, 2008.

My was made in April, hope the issue was resolved. No leaks when I changed my oil at 600 miles. We will see at 5000 miles.

Newb question here - does this leak only affect the GSR? I looked through all 9 pages and haven't found anyone who replied that had indications of owning an MR (or I might have missed it).

Both GSR & MR. Both have the same engine.

The MR was released later than the GSR in the US, so if the issue was rectified before their release there may be no MRs affected. I doubt any US-spec MRs have build dates before April 8th.

I have an MR...was made after the Feb. 08 date the TSB says were affected and yes, I have the oil leak. Very very mild though. Mitsu ordered new gaskets and are going to fix it for me...as I would expect them to!

Is it just me or does it sound like everyone so far has said that after their first oil change they noticed it started leaking. Why would it not have done it before?

I just checked and damn.. mine's Dec 2007.
