oil burning
or maybe i'm just paranoid.
OK guys here's the continuation of my story.
Dealer found the oil leak, it was indeed leaking at the timing cover directly behing the water pump. They re-sealed the timing cover and I was off on my way a few days later.
The day after I picked it up, I noticed oil on the bottom of the car again. I took it to the dealer again, once again they state that the timing cover is leaking, and decide to order a new cover in case the original is warped.
A few days have passed again. I now have the car back, as of now it's not leaking...but I am not holding my breath.. I will report back in a few days...
I am losing my confidence in Mitsu very quickly..
Has anyone ever used the NDC (national dispute center) before?

After reading this thread, I jacked up my car and took off all the plastic splashguard from underneath the car to check. All of the plastic was clean and had no oil or anything on it. I also used a flashlight and looked around everywhere I could see. Belts, oil pan, chain area, tranny. I didn't find anything. When I go in for the 15k maintenance, it wouldn't hurt to have the mechanic check just to make sure I didin't miss it. By the way, my car has 10,800 miles on it.

I am glad the issue might not be as widespread as feared. I however cannot say anything right now as to my status, I think you can all guess why.
Sorry you had such bad luck man. I'm still going to have the mechanic look my car over for any leaks when I get my 15k mainitenance done. I'm glad you started this thread. It will help out some X owners, no doubt.

Learn from my other mistake...if you find a small leak, fix it yourself, don't let any tech touch your car or .....fill in the blanks!
Mine is leaking badly. I just looked underneath this weekend. The panel that you remove for the oil change was covered with oil on top and underneath. It was puddled on top of the panel. It has been flying around all underneath the car. Does anyone know for sure that there car has had a serious leak and has been fixed. The funny thing is I dont see anywhere up on the block as to where its been coming from, its all down low. It is slightly damp around the oil pan seal where it seals to the block, but the oil feed line connection to the block looks clean.
Nobody has a TSB number for this? Gonna have to take it to dealer for repair. My car has 3200 miles on it. There was no sign of oil before the oil change, that was 200 miles ago and now its everywhere. I wonder if it could be overfilled, like someone suggested in the other thread. We checked the oil right after we let it run for a minute. Then filled it up to the upper dot on the dipstick level.

There is a TSB on the oil leak. It is at thr t-chain cover directly under/behind the water pump.
I do not however have the TSB number. Unfortuantely I cannot say more at the moment.
Take it in, be adamanat that the dealer call the Mitsu tech line and know that removing the t-chain cover is NOT in the procedure to fix it.
