The issue appears more serious than I thought.
I tightened the oil feed line banjo bolt to the block, cleaned the back side and t-chain side of the motor, and then drove the car hard for 5 minutes.
When I re-inspected, I can see a small trickle of oil making it's way down from directly behind the water pump. I cannot see it's origin.
I will take it in as planned.
As a side note, I also found the pass side front tire inner (motor side) completely worn. I have never hit anything and the car doesn' pull either direction. The 3 remainig tires look great.
I am quickly losing my patience and faith in this vehicle.

After looking a little more closely, I beleve it to be leaking at the timing cover right at the water pump.
It's a small leak, not dangerous at all but very annoying for a 39k car!

Have you look at your's yet?
It simple, just remove the oil filter cover panel, and look up directly above the oil pan drain plug. You should see oil on the back side and t-chain side of the motor.
I recommend everyone check asap.

I will be taking mine in tomorrow as I too have apparently contracted this disease. It's just a few drips, but it certainly isn't the oil pan gasket. I will let you know my findings as well when I have more time to observe (daylight).
at the dealership as I type this. service guy doing the oil change found the same oil leak. he can't pinpoint where it's exactly coming from. he's putting in some dye and i'll be coming back in about a couple weeks. i hope this **** isn't serious. i blew it off when i personally did the first oil change myself. i thought the drain bolt wasn't on tight. this worries me now.

A couple weeks...drive that $hit around the block. I was able to reproduce the leak in 5 minutes of hard driving.
BTW....have them report it to Mitsu techline. If enough reports come in, they'll create a TSB.

Bottom of the chassis and plastic was drenched with oil. I looked underneath the car after I got home today...it looks the same. That's bad considering I cleaned up the chassis and plastic plate the last time I did the oil change. We're not talking a couple or even a few drops of oil here. It looks like at least half a cup of oil. That's a lot. I'm hoping the fix to this isn't going to be extensive.
I would recommend everyone to check the bottom of their Evo. I'm going to take in the car back in on Thursday. Service advisor asked me to put at least 200 hundred miles before bringing it back in. I'm guess the dye helps pinpoint exactly where it's leaking.

I noticed on my first oil change but didn't think anything of it. I was thinking maybe someone at the factory forgot to tighten the drain bolt...or missed the spot filling the motor.

Don't get me wrong. My oil pan is covered with oil too. i don't have a noticeable drip per se on the garage floor...but it's leaking somewhere. I took it for a drive tonight trying to add miles so I can have enough for thursday. Hopefully they figure out the location of the leak. They're wanting to keep my car for a day or two.
