I will continue to use M1 or Castrol in my car. It's too hard to get AMSOIL in my area, and no point ordering it from internet and paying for shipping and taxes.

I will run 5000 mile intervals. Next set I will send to Blackstone for testing.

I run a 23psi Vortech v1 blower on a 3G Eclipse, running dino Castrol GTX 10w-40. Running perfect.

No doubt AMSoil, M1, Castrol are all good oils.
I use EP as well. good stuff
lol people cringe when I tell them i change my oil every 20,000km on my non turbo'd cars. My mazda is at 300,000km (emissions 0) Honda 500,000 and emissions are still friggin good. except that transmission gave trouble and we had to take it behind the shed and put a bullet between the eyes.

For me if i had an EVO (very soon) I would stick with what works.. If I was going to hit the track hard, I would consider buying that Mobil Racing oils, but when i see the price tag. haha it kinda makes me back away from that idea. haha 130 bucks for a case of 6. :s lol i will stick with EP. heheh

very certain, Dominator has additives that are designed for motors that are pounding the heck out of the oil, and if you still have a cat you might want to just use straight 100% synthetic ATM 10w30

Sure, you can use any oil you choose, but ill take the one that comes from the factory with the approval of the people who built and designed the engines decided it needed.

+1

So many companies go with Mobil 1 I'm not even going to list them all. Just because the car comes with Mobil 1 doesn't mean its crap factory stuff...

I use to think oil was oil? But now that i have had a chance to work with so many engineers and lol Rally Champions, I am starting to understand differences between grades, applications/uses, and limitations.

its very interesting That said there are, I am sure a lot of good oils out there. In some ways I wish there was a way to allow for better benchmarking of product. But since formulas get refined and tweaked, its hard to keep up.

yes sir, that why we are always walking around these forums, because there are still alot of members that dont know the difference between a low grade oil and a high grade oil

Here's one for my Wife's EVOX (German Castrol Syntec OW30) - The engine is still in breaking in phase, i'll get another Oil Analysis when the car hits 15K. Dunno what a FUEL % value of TR means though.

First Oil change was at 1K
Second Oil change was at 4.4K

Future:

Third Oil Change will be at 7K
Fourth Oil change will be at 10K then going to 5K intervals after that (15,20,25,30)

Here's one for my EVO IX - ran the last oil change at a 6K interval (previous sample was a 4,176 mile interval).

Same OIL - German Castrol Syntec 0w30 - i'll be keeping the car at 5K interval.

Anyone find it interesting that Enos/Nippon oil is a subsidy of Mitsubishi Chemical yet Mitsu specifies Mobil 1.

I was just looking on AMSOil's site and they say 5.1 for the X, which I thought was a bit odd.

at any rate... ran 0w30 on my VIII at 7500 intervals with fantastic UOAs, planning on doing a 10k interval eventually on my X.

Just did my first oil change at 4600 miles. Now using Mobil-1 Extended Performance w/ OEM oil filter (done at Mitsu dealership)... I'll be following the manual and will do next oil change at 10K miles. After that, I don't know... thinking of doing 7.5K-10K intervals, since I only DD the X. Isn't Mobil-1 EP proven to be good till 15Kmile intervals? But oil filters are recommend to only last up to 10K.

By the way, I check the engine oil levels regularly (once every 2-3 weeks). No sign of oil consumption, same level as the first day I got her. Oil was semi-dark and felt alright (sticky/normal). I had my car "tuned" at 1.5K miles.

I say about max I would go with M1 EP is 6-7.5k miles. The small issue with M1 is the fuel dilution. The 30w oil shears to a 20w. The TBN is still high, but it secondary protection. The primary is viscosity. I switched to M1 0w-40 the same used in the GTR. I will do a UOA on it and post it on here once I get about 5k on it.
