Send your stock cat to WORKS--they put 3" piping on it to increase flow and you get to keep your emissions equip in tact and not thow a cel as a result.. I did it and no probs, flow is noticably better without all the issues.

I do not want to go through that again so it would be nice to get a less restrictive CAT but still pass emmisions.

Usually for cars that are OBDII they just hook a computer up to the ECU and do a visual CAT check. I don't see any reason as to why the COBB wouldn't pass a visual check. I haven't gone through emissions since I had done my cams, but since (at least in CT) they don't put anything in the tail pipe, I'm pretty confident it will pass.

You shouldn't have any issues

Well, in RI they use a tailpipe "sniffer" to measure total hydrocarbons and NOX so I am unwilling to even think about cams because my DSM went through the roof after I installed same.

well just got the oil change and the CEL is still there. Not only that but the smell is awful. I'll be dumping the cobb cat for hks or something more reputable.

Whats up with inconsistency of CEL from Cobb HFC?

I picked up a UR mini-muffler test pipe, hopefully it wont give me any CEL.

If I were to get a HFC, definitely HKS or SARD.

The only part I would use by Cobb is Accessport.

If I get sick of the smell from the test pipe, I will get the HKS HFC.

I choose the COBB cat for a few reasons. First, it IMO it looks the best out of other companies cats (no weird heat shields / huge catalyst housing). Second, the catalyst itself only takes up a small portion of the pipe and the pipe itself is actually bigger where the catalyst is located.

If you are asking whether I had the car dyno'ed before or after, or if I ran it down the strip to compare, I did not do that. But I can say it mellowed out the sound of the exahust, I don't get a CEL and haven't had any issues.

was this on a X? my luck would suck if that's the case
