Best High Flow Cat option?

Are any of you running one without a CEL? I dont want to pay the extra cost for a HFC and then get the same CEL's i would get from a test pipe. I want to be able to throw in a 3" HFC and never worry about it again.

Anyone having any success with a good reasonably priced HFC?

i have a cobb high flow cat and a CEL has been on for about 3 days now. i'm 'hoping' it's because i need an oil change, but if it isn't then i'll be pretty blown.

so hold off on cobb for now

If you are on a budget, UR has pretty good review so far.

If you are willing to spend a little more money, go with HKS, Sard or Garage G Force high flow cat.

I've had the UR racing test-pipe on for about 6K miles, no CELs. Not even once.

I have a COBB high flow cat, with no issues at all. Put at least 4,000 miles on it.

Hey Ken-

I have an Apexi 3" turbo back exhaust. I was using the stock cat with Apexi downpipe / catback for a while. Once I put the COBB high flow cat on, there was a noticeable difference in how the exhaust sounded as well as noticing that the car pulled harder up to red line with the new cat.

I choose the COBB cat for a few reasons. First, it IMO it looks the best out of other companies cats (no weird heat shields / huge catalyst housing). Second, the catalyst itself only takes up a small portion of the pipe and the pipe itself is actually bigger where the catalyst is located.

If you are asking whether I had the car dyno'ed before or after, or if I ran it down the strip to compare, I did not do that. But I can say it mellowed out the sound of the exahust, I don't get a CEL and haven't had any issues.

Would putting on Test pipe result in boost spiking? I am considering putting on a CBE and a test pipe?

Thanks Bink. It will be interesting to see for you and others that use larger CAT's but still OEM internals will or will not pass emissions. I had to go "under the table" to get my old DSM to pass probably due to 272 HKS cams. I do not want to go through that again so it would be nice to get a less restrictive CAT but still pass emmisions.
