AFI Turbo Project X

Well we picked up this car a few months back and its kinda sat on the backburner as we wrapped up some other projects. We dusted it off last week and began digging in!

Obvious goal is product R&D and part development. Secondary we are shooting for 450 range on pump gas, and as far as we can take it on race gas , along with some 9 second time slips in the future with a built motor

As purchased, the car had a few mods previously installed (Charge pipes, FMIC, Intake, etc) We decided to head to track yesterday to get a few "baseline" passes. It was Mike's first time at the track in quite a few years, along with first time driving an AWD car. Best pass of the day was a 12.84@106mph.

The car is coming apart this week for the first round of parts.

-AFI GT35R Turbo kit
-AFI Light weight race exhaust
-AFI 1000hp FMIC
-Kelford Stage 2 cams/springs
-Exedy Twin disc clutch

and some weight reduction...

You missed a spot.

And is the "lightweight exhaust" something that's going into production?

Yes, although it wont' be for the faint of heart...but will sub 10lbs for the whole system and meet track requirements that require a muffler, etc.

got to have goals

We've had over 10 of our Honda customers run in the 9's this past season in street cars, along with our shop car...I think the time will come with the X.

Fuel Rails came back from Ano this morning. We will be using this on all factory lines/ FPR to start, but allows ease of adaptability to larger AN lines/ adjustable FPR's down the road

Well we have the first new AFI TURBO part for 2009.

We have been tearing into the EVO X the last few days getting it ready for for the install of the new parts and turbo set up.

While we were adding all this new stuff we thought we should make some billet mounts. So a few hours of design and drawing work, then create some tool path.

We had a machine finish up a run of parts for another customer so.

We plan to offer these in black anno finish.

Production parts will be running Monday and a full release will be posted.

Now back to work under the hood
