evo x rs turbo failure

evo x rs turbo failure

lost a turbo on sunday at the track rear wheel fell apart running 24 psi flat boost line and 7.5 afr's motec logging on board both car's any one had a prob? have 3 rs's only 1 car did it !!

dame there goes no 2 even less boost this time, but this time lost the whole engine 1st one only screwed the turbo!

I know someone that blew the stock turbo on a GSR, the shaft broke on the turbine. Mitsubishi replaced it under warranty though.

After diagnosis, let us know exactly what happenned for this, I think, is the 4B11 to let go. Thanks.

pulling engine out in the morning looks like rear wheel again ordering new engine as well again. ps there race cars only no warranty for that.

Yes, pure stock with no mods. He was driving on the expressway and all of the suddenly he had no boost at all. He went to the dealer and they found the shaft broke on the turbine.

Hope its one off deal (as in batch) ..

Not worried about the OZ spec RS since it's inconnell .. I'm more worried about the GSR spec .. which is what most of the rest of the world is running (Ti-AL)

I've also known of one case of turbo failure (turbine broke) locally (coincidentally RS too)

that's a trick one have to double check that one thanx dude see two heads are better than one then i've got warranty on it

The shaft connects the intake & exhaust together. The shaft broke so the turbine wheel (exhaust) was spinning but the compressor side (intake) wheel stopped spinning.
