Ever heard of AFE?

They have an intake setup that looks pretty decent but never heard of them. Any thoughts?http://www.hopupracing.com/afe20milaevo.html

I know they do well with the BMW crowd.
They seem to make quality product, with proven gains.

As far as proven with the EVO's ... not to sure.

Pricing is a little high for a small pipe and a filter/braket.

I used to be in the BMW scene. They were big intake people along with the likes of Gruppe M, K&N and etc.

They were pretty reliable, but quite expensive especially when compared to the options avaliable to the evo crowd.

AFE is big in the truck world. They have started to make car intakes in the last few years. Quality stuff. They make a quality dry filter but people will debate whether oiled filters or dry filters are better from a performance and/or filtering standpoint.

AFE is good stuff, but I think that vendor is charging a bit much. Most of the AFE filters have a velocity stack molded into the base of the filter so it smooths out the flow.

definitely not expensive, 199 bucks for mass pipe and filters w/ heat shield.

buschur is 395, 4 something w/ carbon fiber
ams is 365

i'd say 200 bucks is a steal!

They used to market their Pro-Guard 7 filter media as filtering much better than most other guaze filters...nearly as good as paper. Don't know if they still promote it...I like the idea of the better filtration vs. pressure drop on the other side of the media. I'd be willing to lose 4 or 5 peak hp if I knew the filter was gonna do a good as job as oem paper.
