Anyone run just a downpipe with a tune? I don't want to go full exhaust, as I need to carry a newborn and want to keep the sound down, so I'm wondering if a downpipe alone will add any power/throttle response?

Also, will a downpipe throw a CEL? Does it matter if it's catted or not with respect to the check engine light?

 

no the down pipe shouldnt thow a CEL, i got a Greddy one on my X and so far no problems, as far as the sound goes you shouldnt tell much difference but you will notice a change.

 

even if it does throw a cel, you can clear it with the ap so the check engine light doesnt come on

 

running a dp won't throw a CEL. if you run the dp with the ap you won't get as much hp since the stage 1 map is intended for a stock car

After a little research, it seems that the Cobb Stage 2 requires a full turboback. I was hoping I could use the AccessPort Stage 2 map with just the downpipe like my wife's STI.

Am I mistaken that a downpipe is not enough to run the Stage 2 map on the Evo?

 

naw i emailed rob from cobb tuning and he said that it will run with just a downpipe but you will get more power with the whole exhaust on stage 2....i got a downpipe and might get a exhaust and test pipe soon so it should cover me
