nah. truth be told, I only had about 2500 hundred miles on it. a friend of mine told me to go with exedy when I was lookin at the ACT set-up. I was trying to save money and exedy at the time was expensive, so i went with ACT. I went out a week ago to an empty lot and wrecklessly tried to learn how to launch the X. I've been told that you shouldn't, but Its my first Evo so I did it anyway(like a jackass. Maybe 2 bad launches and 2 good ones(or maybe 5) I knew that I was possibly killing the clutch and flywheel. Took it to my shop and they said"Dude your flywheel is done and your clutch is not far from it. You been launching haven't you? Now you need a new clutch after 2500 miles, did you learn your lesson yet?"

Yeah I did, Don't launch the f'in all wheel drive car!!!! especially over and over and over again.

So now I got exedy. I was told that it was much stronger, can take more of a beating and more torque. BUT Im not going to take anymore chances launching. Its a costly bad habit

If you can fry an aftermarket clutch that quickly learning to launch an AWD car, how did everyone else do it? I am curious since i have never launched a AWD car and thought an aftermarket clutch would help if I made a mistake, seems not haha.

I did the same with the stock clutch but it managed 8000km & maybe 15 launch (on separate occasions).
Now covered another 10000km & 3 track days on my Cusco stage 1 clutch but no more launch.

I think Ill agree with you. I have 10,500 miles on my car now. I lost the stock at about 8000 with way more launches. And the ACT clutch and flywheel only lasted 2000 miles with 4-6 launches. but I still cant believe the fact that the stocker out lasted the ACT.

I think the moral of the story is that you shouldn't abuse your clutch unless you want to replace it often.

A puck style clutch is not meant to be slipped like a Organic street disk. Slipping them aggressively will wear them out very quick. This is why we do not recommend them for street use. A ACT street disc will last either as long or longer then the OEM disk and normally since you are going to a heavier pressure plate you will see less slippage which in turn will give you a longer life on the clutch.

<----- RUNS ACT AND LOVES IT
