Which boost gauge?

I am about to start the a-pillar fiberglass gauge pods and am having trouble deciding on which gauge to get. The pod will hold two 52 mm gauges and one will be boost and the other A/F ratio. I am going to go with Innovate A/F ratio gauge, I think. For the boost gauge I am looking at AEM True Boost and the Defi White Racer. Which do you prefer? I know the AEM has a boost controller built in, so that is an added bonus, but I am not such a fan of the way the gauge looks. I figure if I am going thru the trouble to glass in a pillar pod, I better have some pretty nice gauges. Let me know your thoughts and opinions. TIA

I prefer the AEM, just because of the built in boost controller and you decrease the clutter in the engine bay and cabin alike, which is a nice bonus along with a AEM Wideband you have a nice setup going.

Both are great but I think the Defi looks the best.

There was thread earlier that noted mounting a gauge pod on the A-pillar is not recommended because of the enclosed air bag; you really do not want to have Defi meter mounted into your head in the event of an accident!

Where is this thread? When you open your mouth you SHOULD know what you are talking about. Have you even removed the a pillar? Do you know that there is an air bag behind it? All I have to say is to your own ignorance.

Easy big fella. There is an air bag in both a-pillars. Check it out before you blow a seam.

wow those are some harsh words and very defensive. i believe he is correct about the airbags, but your right, you should check it out for yourself. tru boost is a great gauge, innovate look real good in person, but you cant ever go wrong with defi. whatever you decide gl you will be happy with any

Since you still think you are right. You are about to get educated. There is NO way possible for the pillar to hit the steering wheel, let alone your own face in an accident. I went out to my car and pulled the pillar down just so you can see for yourself.

In this picture I am trying very hard to pull the a pillar off with my hand but as you can see it is attached to the car by a heavy plastic strap.

You can also see in the pics that the air bag only goes down about 8 inches down the pillar. In the event of an accident the pillar will pop out like in the pictures and the air bag comes out straight down. Hope you learned something. I just get a little ticked off when ppl open there mouth and don't know what they are even saying.

Also now back on topic. Has anyone heard of the STRI gauges, someone told me that they are made by Defi but half the price? Anyone know about this?

To me it seems the AEM Gauges are harder to read at a glance. I personally have the Defi gauges. As far as the STRI gauges go I guess they are made by (DEFI AFIAK) Japanese made no control box but are peak/warning equipped...plus cheaper

Sticky this one post. I've been one to say that there are airbags before and I have pulled the apillar off my last car, with SRS and it DIDN'T have the strap and would have popped you in the noggin.

Yeah there is also a picture floating around in pretty much every thread about a-pillar gauges that shows all of the airbags deployed. No worries about the gauges or the pillar pod coming off. Anyhow, I have the AEM gauges (AFR, boost, and oil pressure) and I've been very happy with them... I'm currently in the same boat as you... where the hell do I mount them? For the time being I have the AFR gauge down near the ashtray.

I recommend the Blitz boost gauge dedicated to the Evo X, its designed for right-hand drive vehicle since the pod is made to fit on the right side, but im sure it would work on our cars with minimal mods.
