you saved him trouble already; yeah taking off the underbody panels is your ticket. be careful when you put it back on though - don't miss a single clip, otherwise it will sag and drag on the ground. not pretty.

on the stock licp, i noticed right at the beginning there's a very short flex tubing, maybe 6 inch long. even if it's not much, you might as well replace that too. it's not all that expensive to do it. if you haven't purchased the uicp yet however, i suggest you go down that route first.

I dropped an extension down by the licp and it rolled to the front of the bumper. I pulled the driver's wheelwell back to access that spot, and after seeing the amount of room I had, I have to agree with goofy and guru, it's definitely do-able when removing underpanels and driver's side plastic wheelwell.

why not pull off the front bumper and save yourself the trouble of manuvering around small spaces? The front bumper is real easy to take on and off. I've pulled off the front bumper on and off twice this past week. Second time was too easy. I can do it in my sleep.

I already have all bolt-ons minus the intake and licp.

well then you already answered your question - you got everything except for two pieces. might as well finish the puzzle.

i had an Evo IX and did alot to it...but got totaled last year.

today i should be making a deal on an Evo X. i know for the IX an intake lost power unless tuned or you were running some high numbers. but LICP made good results and good spool up.

Does intake and LICP for the X make/loose power? there seems to be so much debate on this so i'll revive this thread see if theres any new info.

again i haven't been searching these forums since i had my IX so i have alot of catching up to do.

I need a licp too and read alot of people saying it is not needed but then again i've been hearing people saying there turbo spooled up quicker. Anyone wanna recommend a specific brand or size? 2.5in or 3in?

Thanks,

Well, according to others (https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...p-shame-2.html) the UIP is the only efffective pipe, withstanding Mob EVO X comment about the LIP. As far as size is concerned, if you are retaining the OEM FMIC, then use pipe that interfaces best with diameter of output.

Later, Ken

did anyone actually dyno a car w/ LICP and w/o LICP? Is there any proof besides someone feels faster spool? I really dont want to install any unnecessary parts.

I personally would just make your own intercooler pipes. If you are not going to a larger diameter tubing just grab yourself a reducer silicon coupling to strap onto the turbo compressor outlet and two 45 degree bends. Than make some marks and cuts and have them welded up (give a welder buddy a 6 pack and I am sure he would gladly make a tiny weld for you) and then get another Silicon connector with the hump in it so that you have the flexibility and your done. You could even get it all powder coated if there is a local shop nearby and make it all nice for the price you could find them for.

I Have not had a look at the bends on the soft intercooler hose on the cold side but I am sure it is only two simple bends again and do all the marking and cutting and have it welded up and get the two silicon couplers and bam your done..
So let’s see

Upper charge pipe:
- 2x 45 degree bends
- Silicon reducer
- Silicon hump connector
- 4x T-bolt clamps

Lower charge pipe
- 2 bends (again not sure of the angle)
- 2x Silicon connectors
- 4x T-bolt clamps

Done and done. You probably just saved yourself $250-$300 depending on if you can get things welded up for free and how much you have to pay for your silicon couplings and tubing.

It may just seem this easy for me as I have been building custom turbo kits and this kind of stuff for years and have done many custom charge pipe set ups. But the Evo X is so straight forward I don’t know why more people don’t do this (or maybe they do?)
