rough idle and stalllllllll
rough idle and stalllllllll
i put an aem dry flow cone in.. the way i did it is i used a silicone coupler on the stock maf sensor tube.. the other end of the coupler is a 3inch diameter 4inch long intake tube.. the tube is then connected to the aem cone..
i won't lie.. i did it for the sound more than anything
but ever since.. even tho i have reset the ecu.. i get really rough idle when ac is one.. and even when ac is not being used.. i get rough idle.. i've stalled about 3 times in 2 days.. all happens right after i come to a stop at a light or stop sign...
i ordered an AMS intake fan shield that is suppose to cure this problem.. but it's not here yet.. is there anything i can do in the mean time?? anyone have any link to a detailed diy for a temp fan shield?? this stutter makes me not want to drive the car...

Not much you can do in the meantime, other than DIY a shield on your own. But considering the amount of time it would take to do that, I'd rather just wait for the shield to be shipped.
The AMS intake shield installation is pretty self-explanatory. There are like 5 pre-drilled holes in the shield and the mounting points in the engine bay match up perfectly. It'll take 10 minutes to install.

Yes, the shield definitely helps the idle issue. I had the same problem as you, my car would occasionally stall at idle, whether a stop sign or red light, etc. I haven't stalled at idle since I got the shield. The idle is still a little rough but it's certainly better than before.
Not sure if this is the same situation as you.. But I had the same problem on my completly stock x.... Had it reflashed at the dealer.. Hasn't died since... But now I have a hiccup at 3200 rpm sometimes... Wish I hadn't flashed it...would have rather dealt with the occasional stall. From what I understand it has to do with open looped and closed looped starts... Warm and cold starts... And the o2 sensor not being used until car is at temp. All sounds confusing I know but it makes sense...also has to do with the fact that the x runs so rich from the factory. Too much fuel and not enough ignition on warm starts. Information comes from a pretty smart source .. Cobb aps and remapping supposedly should cure the problem..
