Crush Washer

Does the X come with a crush washer on the oil plug? The dealership did my first two oil changes. I've done several (no crush washer ever) and noticed a very small leak over the weekend when changing oil. The oil level wasn't affected but it made a mess on the plastic underpanel.

If it does need a crush washer, please post up the specs so I know what to look for since I've never seen it. Pics could help too.

Thanks

Yes, it needs a crush washer. Don't know the specs as the dealer always throws one in when I buy an oil filter.

I dont think they would be any difference between the X and the IX. I have some at home if you need one asap. If not send a pm the russellm and he can take care of you.

Did you take the old one off? It's not uncommon for people to not even notice it on there because it gets painted over and you have to fight to get it off in the first place. It's also not uncommon for it to seal up just fine on a second use.

thanks. i will reassess it on my next oil change and have one ready just in case. it has never leaked before this time though.

oh i did bottom out going 154 mph over railroad tracks and have been having trouble with oil pressure since. don't think that could have anything to do with a leak right?

just kidding.

the same here, i noticed a little leak when i was looking under the car once. apparently the mechs at the dealership pinched the washer when they did the oil change. i just replaced it with a magnetic tip one with a better washer. good luck..

The original crush washer on the drain plug is kind of painted and very hard to tell if there is even one on there. Are you guys sure there aren't any on your car?

Anyone know the size of the crush washer we need? I've gotten a few from the dealer but never paid attention to the size. I figure I should pick a few up at Pep Boys or Home Depot.

The parts guy at Ray Skillman Mitsu in Indianapolis was actually pretty cool, which surprised me, because the sales people were douchebags. He sold me the oil filters cheaper than what they would usually ask, and gave me like 20 crush washers for free!

Maybe. As long as it's a crush washer. I usually pick up a bag of ten from the Dealer and keep them with the rest of my oil change tools. And I change crush washers every other oil change unless the washer is badly crushed.
