Crush Washer
There indeed is a crush washer... And my dealership has been charging 2 dollars a pop. To remove from oil plug just use a tiny flat head screw driver (like the ones used to fix glasses) and just get the sucker to spin. Once spinning the washer should come right off. I would continue to use the crush washer so that you don't have to over torque the drain plug in fear of a leak. The washer is there just for that reason. You should not be using more than 29 ft lbs of torque to tighten. Pay attention when putting on the washer... There is a right and wrong way. The seal should be toward the engine. The gapped side toward the engine that is. This is how it has been explained to me by a mitsu tech..... Good luck.

the drain plug is the same size as a honda one, so i just use the honda ones because they are free for me.
Thanks for correcting me.

I doubt its any bit difference with the IX and the X for lug torque
My dealership (a mitsubishi that has to use ford for it's service and parts department) can't find the crush washers for the drain and fill plugs on the transmission. Does anyone have a link to a place that sells them? I've been looking and can't seem to find them.
