Why is everyone so quick to jump in and say "It'll make the car run like crap" and "It's a terrible idea"? Have you tried it? I have, and the car runs exactly like it did before, absolutely nothing different about it.

Yes, the 4B11T has a MAF sensor to meter the amount of air coming in, but it also has a MAP sensor in the intake manifold to measure the pressure. A VTA BOV doesn't have the same effect as it would on a strictly MAF metered engine.

Like somebody else stated, just buy and intake. I have an ARC intake and it's pretty damn loud, I can't imagine how much louder it would be with an cone filter intake like AMS. This way you're actually making a tad bit of power and still have the sound.

The AMS is loud. Loud enough that I can hear it with the windows up and the stereo at a reasonable volume. I can't imagine any situation where someone would want it louder than it is with a cone filter.

I'm sorry guys, I didn't expect my topic will turn the thread to a battlefield between JordanS4 and shyong.

I metioned,it's just for fun,I'm still a nooby of tunning cars,so still learning.I know some basic theory of how BOV works, but have no experience of what it's gonna do to my car after I mod it.

I ran VTA on the stock ECU for thousands of miles. No problems at all but I was also tuned for it. I don't see any problem with you wanting to do it, and everyone is a noob at some point. I was too. However if you have basic theory of how it works, obviously you know where to find the information. Find a little more and go look at your engine bay and you will quickly understand how it could be made VTA. If you understand this much, you will probably understand how your car runs with this mod. Sorry to ruin the thread but for such a simple question you really should have searched and learned first. You are probably the 10000th member to get flamed for this exact thread on an 8, 9, or 10.

For those that have the AMS intake. Did you have the full CAI or the SRI. Stock bungs re-used? or an oil catch? I've been looking at both, but I wanted some owner input.

I have a HKS SSQV and I VTA on that baby. The problem was after 2 weeks the car started to struggle between shifts and it bogs every time I'm off the gas in between shifts. Stuck the stocker back on and it's all good from here on out. I needed a tune if I ever going to use that SSQV again.

^ I also have the SSQV setup VTA. After months of having it, there still isn't a single thing wrong with how the car drives. It's like I drove it off the dealer's lot yesterday.

Thats like taking a completely stock Civic and throwing a short-ram on it. It sounds fast, but it isn't!

If you switch to full VTA, the air that is discharged from the BOV has already been read by the car's MAF sensor and the ECU still thinks that air is going into the engine. Since it isn't, you will temporarily run rich in between shifts when that air is discharged and could cause stalling. That's the only problem I think that could happen. There's no point in converting the VTA with a MAF monitored car. You could do it later if you change to a MAP sensor for fuel management.

The car has a MAP sensor already.

guys, from my opinion~~, you could never say a evo driver a "RICER",since we are driving a EVO.Even we have some super loud muffler, conceptcar body-kit,unreasonable BOV or angel eye+ led+neon underbody lights,we are still driving a EVO
Oh anything can be RICE, especially a EVO.
