bov question

I heard that if you put a bov on an evo x you have to get it tuned right away otherwise youll throw codes and you wont be able to drive it around...Is that true?...Please hit me back and let me know..

You should do a more thorough search on this forum. First, what is your purpose of replacing the stock diverter valve? Second, just because the car seems like it's running fine with an aftermarket vta bov doesn't mean it's running fine. You gotta factor in the stock tune is meant for it to run recirculated.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend any vta bov till you get tuned for it. Even then more than likely you'll run better with the stock diverter valve.

+1 I was running the HKS BOV VTA specific X. I went a month or two without any codes. When I went to get tuned with it on VTA It was a week before it kicked limp mode. I went back to the stock BOV like some of the Experienced Evo Guys told me and problem was solved by recircing again. I ordered the recirc kit from HKS and put it on the HKS BOV yesterday and same thing. No problems, codes, or limp when recirc. VTA as lovely as it is to show off and CHIRPPPP!! its just not worth the trouble anymore. But Im still quite sad cuz I cant VTA and run great at the same time. Some people dont have problems VTA or just havent gotten them yet.

I actually read 2 times your sentence just to be sure.

Why would you change back to HKS BOV, & even went through the trouble & $$$ to get the recirculation kit, when the stock recirculation (I think its called by-pass) valve was doing fine?

Helping the economic by spending? HKS BOV looks alsolutely sweet in the engine bay? Higher boost ( I am talking about PSI, not ego, just in case you asked)?

I got the AP BOV and haven't had any issues yet but haven't had a chance to really drive it. I am getting more and more concerned replacing the factory BOV with the AP BOV especially now that I am 100% atmosphere. I replaced the LICP and now the BOV return line won't reach to the turbo inlet hose so I can't reinstall the factory BOV at this point with extending the return line. Can I vta the stock BOV or can it only run recirc? The more and more I am reading about replacing the stock BOV, the more I'm worried I made a mistake.
