Car won't shift into reverse.

Well I just had a huge 'oh crap' moment. Had to push my car out of a parking spot tonight because it will no longer go into reverse * AWESOME *

Drove it home and yup, same thing. No way will it go into reverse. All forward gears work fine, although there is a new grinding that happens when shifting into 5th quickly. Has this happened to anyone else yet, or am I lucky #1?

I have an ACT HDSS replaced 2 months ago, preventively. The car has 18,000 miles on it. Does his mean it's time for a new tranny?

I saw another post where someone has an aftermarket clutch with no reverse. If you search you should be able to find it - good luck.

I searched, but the only thing I'm seeing is the notchy/grinding stuff. Anyone remember who/where this was?

Thanks.

I'm assuming this is something specific to the X, since reverse is a combination of two forward gears?

Thanks. Looks like there are at least three of us then, lol. How long has your car been at the shop and what are they doing to it? Did you have an upgraded clutch?

Now I'm wondering... I am having trouble getting into 5th too, so might this just be a bent or out of adjustment linkage? I'll try to check tonight.

You have to be careful when shift in the transmition because the reverse is very delicate ....In the dealer they changed the shift's cable and another piece from the reverse shift. When I get my car back i'll post it here to give you the info......... Im going to wait another week so they can give me the car back and when i receive it, they will had done half the transmition new

Any update on your car?? Mine definitely looks like an internal issue (bent shift fork or damaged syncro, maybe). There's a solid mechanical blockage. I'm curious to see what the dealer does with yours, but I am probably leaning towards a Shep rebuild for mine.
