who knows the reason for reverse problems?
ok i've had problems getting it in reverse and it dont wanna go in there at all.. i know alot of ppl have had this problem.. but does anyone know THE REAL REASON why we are having problems?? i have a salvage title evox so i have no idea whats wrong and the transmission shops i've taken it to wont know for sure until they tear it apart.. but if everyone had the same problems i can tell them what is the problem and probably get charged alil less!!
i have that problem also but im in hawaii so its not cuz its cold. i usually run the shifter through the gears and let off the brake and let the car roll a little and eventually just have to muscle it into reverse... stupid *** mitsubishi.
Umm, you know that reverse is not synchronized right? This is usually why. It helps to make sure to press the clutch all the way in, release the brakes, and gently slip it in. If you have the brakes on it may be hard to convince the gears to get with each other.

If your car does not go into reverse at all it's not the same as occasional stickiness which is something that all manual cars experience from time to time.
I have this problem as well with my X. I just push real hard and shove until it goes in! Try it, it works! JK, its annoying though sometimes... Its gotten better after putting a few hundred miles on my ride.
not sure if this is what you are talking about..sometimes i'll feel it go into reverse and at night i'll see the reverse lights come on, but when i let the clutch out im just sitting there revving my engine like a moron. i dont know why, but i'll put it into neutral and throw it into reverse again and it works. this has happened maybe 2 or 3 times. maybe i'm not fully engaged, not sure, but the car is brand new.
i have 16,000 miles.. it doesnt want to even go or even try to get in reverse.. i jus dont know wat to do.. cuz if i try to get it fixed and its not something easy it's going to cost me almost 2000bucks.. if its jus the pin or fork it'll be 1000bucks..
It's better to do what others have said; put it in 1st then slip it into reverse. Sometimes you have to even let the clutch out slightly to just barely move the car before you push the clutch back in and then slip it into reverse. Try it, it works.
But, it sounds as if the OP has more serious problems, his car is a salvage, no telling what's screwed up inside the g'box.
that wont work.. i've tried it many of times..it is salvage and who knows what could be wrong.. but the damage of the vehicle was on the passenger fender area.. all cosmetic and didnt mess the frame or engine AT ALL!! hell didnt even mess up the brakes or anything.. jus bent strut and exterior probs!
