Happened with our evo x a few days ago. We are using an Exedy Twin HD

Good to hear.

I haven't read about anyone with the stock setup having this issue. From what i understand the preassure plate is very strong and causes the plastic piston to crack.

so wait, how can you tell the difference between needing a new clutch and needing a new master cylinder? Because when my clutch went, the pedal just dropped to the floor and never came back up but my mechanic never mentioned the master cylinder.

A failing clutch slips. If the pedal doesn't return, it's the master cylinder. I can't say I've ever heard of a failed clutch sticking the pedal, but I could be wrong.

It seems that those who have blow out their slave cylinder have been using the HD clutches. Anyone having any issues with standard twin plates?
