HKS Drop in filter install question?

Hi guys, i was just about to install my HKS drop in filter and realised i had previously (out of curiosity) taken out the 3 layer element just to inspect it. Now i put it back but i am not sure if i put it in the correct way...

So question being, which layer, can someone confirm *please* which part of the foam is where., i.e. where should the wooley looking foam be facing, and therefore the honeycomb plasticky side be facing??

Will a change in this be an issue??

Any help would be appreciated.

Dan

Sorry, i know how the plastic frame works and goes in.. i will rephrase, i have actually taken the foam part out of the frame completely, and now i dont know which side up the foam goes in... Just wanting to know which part of the foam filter should face the engine and which should face front of car. Wooly section or Plasticky section.

Hi Dan,

You can have a look at the pics in my FS thread here. If you look closely at the picture you should be able to discern the foam pattern and see which side goes where

Note: Item has already been sold, not trying to post my ad on another place or anything.

You will be fine. The concern is when the car is flashed with a new map based on stock filter in the housing.

Without a tune theres really no point IMO to just install a HKS filter.... Your not going to gain any power off of just a filter on a factory map... Even with a tune there isn't much of a whp add it's mostly for baseline. Save your money unless its just the start of many mods waiting to happen.

You'll be surprise what you gain from just that filter. In any case its only $30-35.

I have to disagree with that, having had the HKS filter installed on my untuned car before. There is a pretty noticeable difference in power delivery from mid to high-end with just a drop-in

Your car should not run lean from just a drop-in filter. I would wait for a tune until you have more mods. Save some money.

From what I know you gain a lot of power on those HKS filters because they suck.... As in if you look past the filter you will see the wuality is terrible a lot gets through them... So yea they do provide more power, because everything gets through them but at what cost.... If I went with a filter I'd try out the cosworth, or worx and pay an extra 10 bux...
