head studs - has anyone installed a set?
I read the thread in the EVO 1-9 forum where some members replaced the stretch bolts with studs but used the OEM gasket replacing one bolt with a stud at a time
has this been done or can it be done on the EVO X?

I don't think there is a need for this to be done on the X. Especially on the stock turbo.
In order to install some of the studs on the X you may need to remove some of the cam caps. If memory serves you may even need to remove a cam in order to gain access to the stud hole in the head.
