There is 1 gas station in my whole town that does 93, knowing that this would be my gas i would run daily i filled up two 5 gallon jugs and drove my car to Plano on that tank and then filled up with those jugs on the dyno. Tuned on the only gas that sees my tank. And lets say I need to fill up elsewhere for whatever reason (which I have) I just take it easy on the car and don't beat on it. Too easy. Hey like you called it yourself; it's a philosophy yes. But a philosophy I hold dearly, without a proper tune your nothing and no where near full potential of the vehichle in question. My engine failure was without a doubt in my mind caused from overboost and not bad fuel.

BTW some have mentioned it would take a good tune to run my aformentioned AFR's, just wanted to add that my car was on the dyno for 10+ hours for a single pump map.
I'd say your engine failure is due to a bad tune. I have never see a turbo car being tuned to 12.8 on pump gas. heck not even n/a car run that lean. because of this you probably ran very high egts which you probably are not monitoring. this of course melted your piston. Ask kevind what afr does he plan on tuning your car once its up and running again? i am pretty sure its going to be no leaner that 12.0

Ok, ok. Getting off-topic, this thread was intended to post progress of my build and that was the extent of it. No more bickering. I use bad gas my tune sucked horribly and I don't know how to drive. There. It's settled. All bases covered.

don't take it negatively. this should be a learning experience for you so that you will not encounter the same problem again. good luck on your build.

My sentiments as well!

Codevo: We are all here to share and learn on what works and what doesn't, hopefully your next build will be trouble free!

Hilarious Are Evo's known for ringland failures? I thought that was an STi thing. Or is this just purely a high boost AFR issue?

Well to be honest enough people haven't blown their 4b11's to determine a definitive most common failure amongst the 4B11. I do think I am the first with a ring land deficiency though.

Oh and I'm glad you think it's hilarious I destroyed my motor. Karma is a ***** haha. Your gonna remember this when your tire falls off going like 85 lolzorz. j/k man

Ha ha I just thought your response was hilarious, not your misfortune. The ringland thing is so pervasive over at nasioc/iwsti that they don't even want to hear about it anymore. Hell they have a registry now.

You say your motor is dead from overboost.

Do you have the overboost logged? Did you see a boost gauge spike to somewhere it shouldn't have been at?

I'm just curious to know why you're blaming "overboost" if you don't have a single piece of evidence that thats what the problem was.

I, like you, have an FP Red on my car. I run a MAX of 25-26psi on the street on 93 octane. I have actually knocked timing out of the car since Connecticut has been brutally hot/muggy lately, causing a few 0.7 Knock (CA) here and there.

29 psi on a FP Red, at 12.5:1 AFR, seems like a recipe for disaster to me. It's really hard to believe a COBB Tuner tuned your car at that level. Do you have a log or dynoplot of this?

FWIW, I made 366/309 on a Mustang Dyno at 25psi with about 12 degrees of max timing.
